Telia network quality

I heard Telia's quality had been on the decline lately as they were signing on lots of high-capacity new customers, and Cloudflare had some complaint about them a few months prior too. Does anybody have any insight into whether this is still the case? I was trying to evaluate whether Telia would be a good carrier to switch over to as a primary provider, as their pricing does look pretty attractive.

I would say that information is not 100% accurate. We use Telia for waves
nationwide and also have several DIA ingest(transit) points from them. If
anything, the IRU carriers they are using may have a problem sometimes due
to fiber cuts, but that is why you build redundant paths.

They are very ontop of the ball when one of the waves goes down. We
actually don't utilize a ton of their transit due to the nature of our
network design, because we are connected to all of the major IXs.

I've been using them out of Dallas for about 2.5 years now with very good
success. Their NOC has been top notch in responding to our issues, though
I've seen repeated peering issues for them with a single provider, but
who's to say that's their fault and not the other parties?

Same here 2 BGP flaps in past week.

At the risk of sounding exceptionally snarky here, I don't think it really
makes sense to judge a carrier's performance based on the short term status
of a single BGP session.

You're absolutely right. Usually the quality is perfect and stable.
Telia is very respectful T1 provider.

We have been using Telia for the last several years and they have top
notch!!

Was connected to them in NYC and in the past two years, we only had one issue
and it was a faulty card in one of their core. New workplace is connected to
them in Montreal. No issue so far!

We are connected to Telia in Europe for about 2 years now. We've never had any issues with them and the response times of the NOC, when we do have questions, have always been great. Latencies to several destinations are good and we don't have any bandwidth issues.

We use them globally and often work with their teams.

Pros – customer service is excellent, very fast response times and good engineers. They are don’t beat around the bush if the issue is their fault, they will come right out and tell you so you can stop scrambling. They are also pretty good at resolving the issues on their network in a timely manner.

Cons – Out of all our carriers, they have the most problems. Most of the time it comes down to minor issues in their NA and EU backbone, sometimes congestion in the backbone. We have very network sensitive traffic so we pick up on most internet issues. They’ve also had the most mis-configuration issues of all our carriers. The configuration issues were quite a while ago. We got on them pretty hard about this and since then no more configuration issues.

All in all, their service is good and have no problem recommending them.

Good luck

Looking for a customer list for this building.

Best,

Roderick.

Cloudflare issues with Telia are a thing of the past. They remain one of
the top Tier1 provider in term of reach and quality.
