Within the last hour, an American Airlines jetliner (Airbus A300, flight 587) crashed into Queens, apparently on departure from JFK. Details are sketchy (as usual), but news sites are very overloaded (as usual). It does not immediately appear to be a terrorist attack.
NYC has gone into lockdown mode. -rt
The crash was in the portion of Queens knows as the Rockaways. The entire
city is shut down. All tunnels and bridges and air space over NYC is closed.
