Oct. NANOG - hotel? At the two month marker now.

... Reston is Hell, but with better visuals.

I'm not certain of the truth of this comparison, having only half the data
at hand. However, it has to be just about the least interesting place on
the whole Eastern seabord to travel to.

Columbia, MD is a good rival, and I understand there are similarly
dismal places on Long Island.

"Hey, where did they hide all the gas stations?"

There are a couple of decent shopping malls in the area, always
great for contraband gadget/ipod/xbox importing

So all Rouse developed communities I guess make that hit list. Tampa, Jacksonville, and hundreds of other places around the country count in that sort of "feel".

I guess General Growth will be the name on them soon.

Two other hotels that are worth checking:

Comfort Inn (~$100 per night, Internet rate)

Pg.6&hotel=VA405

Holiday Inn Express (~130 per night, Internet rate)

Neither is really "walking distance" from Reston Town Center but if you
get double occupancy with a friend and split a cab or rental car it's
much cheaper than the Hyatt.

If you are looking at hotels in the Herndon/Reston area that are not walking distance to the Town Center then bus service might be a cheap alternative to rentals and cabs.

The primary bus system in the Reston area is the Fairfax Connector (particularly the RIBS buses I think).

Here is a link to the schedules and maps:
http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector/schedulesmaps.htm

Also check the Metro Ride Guide, as I believe it will also show Fairfax Connector routes to your destination if available, and it's simple - enter start address and destination address and it will figure out the rest:
