Is there some sort of a router meltdown somewhere this evening? I cant get
through to most
destinations, either with TELNET, http, ftp, DNS - nothing.
According to Illuminet the Texas/Oklahoma region is affected by an unknown
outage at this time.

Probably. I'd be hard pressed to believe the Internet survived an
entire evening without anything anywhere breaking.
