I have been told that the ibm.net mail servers are now "officially" closed.
The MX records are gone and the "A" record points to a server that does not
have anything running on port 25.

ibm.net has finally been replaced by attglobal.net. The DNS for this was done over a year ago but the ibm.net domain has remained active to give customers a reasonable transition period. As of March 1st it was finally de-commissioned. All support email addresses have been migrated over to XYZ@attglobal.net which include noc, peering, postmaster, abuse etc....

Nope. ibm.net was always very good about dealing with spam complaints
sent to postmaster, I don't see it any worse under the new management.
It's true postmaster@attglobal.net was broken for a while, but they
fixed it. They're also prserv.net, all the equivalent addresses there
work as well.
