How many ASs are out there?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how many AS are as October of 1998. I know
there were around 700 registered ASs in the Internet at the
beginning of 1994. [pag 178 of Huitema-93]

Is there a web page with that Information?

The CIDR report mentions the number of ASs found in active use. One might
assume there are at least 11k+ since new ASs are being given out in the
11550's. The highest one I found in a quick search was 11554.

That list is far from complete. A simple self-check reveals that we are not
in there.
