Help Validate DNS PTR Record Inferences with Large Language Models

Hello everyone,

I am a third year PhD student at Northwestern University advised by Prof. Fabian Bustamante focused in the area of Internet Measurement. I’ve been working on a project to decode and extract geographic hints from DNS PTR records with advanced machine learning techniques. This system automates the geolocation of network devices, improving upon existing methods by identifying patterns across various network providers.

However, while we have made substantial progress, we still need to validate the accuracy of the system for different providers and networks. If you are familiar with the structure and encoding of DNS PTR records in your domain, I would greatly appreciate your help.

If you would be willing to donate a few minutes of your time to validate the inferences made by the system (or let me know of any errors you find), please reach out to me at kedarthiagarajan2028@u.northwestern.edu. You can also visit our website at https://thealeph.ai, where you can interact with the system and see how it works in real time. We also have an API which you can play with at FastAPI - Swagger UI.
Any assistance would be invaluable in refining the tool and ensuring it works with diverse naming conventions across operators.

Thank you for your time!
