Affects of the balkanization of mail blacklisting

The SPAM problem goes up and down to be sure, but you know what? PROCMAIL
is your friend. All you need to look for are the basics (ADV, Make Money,
etc) and you can instatly filter 90 percent of this trash into the
bitbucket.

Oh, so it is OK to filter incoming mail if it contains ADV in the Subject:
line? Why, then, is it not OK to filter on a list of IP addresses?

You are missing my point. I am filtering for *me*, personally. I do not,
and *will NOT* filter for users. As for filtering on IPs, I do that as
well, mostly for ORBS/MAPS/Micro$oft like domains.

Gee, you don't work for mfn.org, huh J?

What? Who is "J", and why would you care if s/he works for MFN?

Unless I'm reading incorrectly (which is possible), you were representing
yourself as an MFN admin and then in another message you said you didn't
work for them.

If I misread, I apologize!

OK, I get it... Nobody "works" per se at MFN: it's 100% volunteer. I
work for an NSP in order to eat...

MFN has been around since early 1994, with a several week lapse in
registration serveral years ago, so I well remember the original
discussion of MAPS and its bretheren. MFN was, at my urging, one of, if
not the first adopter of MAPS in the St. Louis area. It is only with the
20-20 hindsight that I can see what a terrible idea these services
are.

OK "J"...

_YOU_ are "J" or at least that is who you claim to be in your signature
line.

May I direct your attention to item 7 of the NANOG Mailing List AUP:
http://www.nanog.org/aup.html

7. Postings to the list must be made using real, identifiable names and
addresses, rather than aliases.

Also, for the record:

Is it possible that you might trim your signature to be at least smaller
than your contributed post? Perhaps a hyperlink to your rant vs posting
your rant?

No.

If Governments really want us to behave like civilized human beings, they
should give serious consideration towards setting a better example:
Ruling by force, rather than consensus; the unrestrained application of
unjust laws (which the victim-populations were never allowed input on in
the first place); the State policy of justice only for the rich and
elected; the intentional abuse and occassionally destruction of entire
populations merely to distract an already apathetic and numb electorate...
This type of demogoguery must surely wipe out the fascist United States
as surely as it wiped out the fascist Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

The views expressed here are mine, and NOT those of my employers,
associates, or others. Besides, if it *were* the opinion of all of
those people, I doubt there would be a problem to bitch about in the
first place...

You know why birds fly up-side-down over Missouri? Because there isn't
anything worth pooping on there! You've made my point over and over again
in your prior posts "J" so, don't bother responding.

mfn.org == Missouri FreeNet != mfn.com == Metromedia Fiber Networks
