Unimus Network Automation https://unimus.net/

Dear All

Anyone using Unimus for Network Automation ? https://unimus.net/

i.e. mass configuration / push / pull configurations looking for something more powerful than rconfig for a Cisco Nexus and Juniper environment.

And or happy with any other suggestions

unimus is great I’ve used it for simple sites. rConfig is better as there is no licensing and open source. It’s more involved at setting up but worth it.

Sorry, RANCID is open source. rConfig is not.

I’ve been using Unimus for almost as long as Mike. Met Tomas at a show in Vegas, very smart guy.

I use it exclusively for Mikrotik but I can safely assume if they made it work with Mikrotik there would be no problem on Cisco/Juniper (more uniform).

nods I have used it on RouterOS, ExtremeWare, ExtremeXOS, Cisco-Nexus, Cisco-IOS, Foundry, Brocade, UniFi, AirOS (AirFiber and AirMax), and likely some others I’ve forgotten.

We’ve been using it for about a year, mostly for Cisco, but it also is one of the few commercial products that can back up Sonicwall firewalls. The design is well considered, with minimal chattiness in daily reports, so unexpected changes are quite apparent.

We started using it in the last month. Great software. We’re all Juniper and it has no issues at all with mass configs.

We were using Oxidized with LibreNMS, which is better than rconfig, IMO, but this is even better.

As others have said, you can’t beat the value.

To be precise, Unimus allows some mass config push but is not a templating system. It’s superb for config pull. It’s decent for simple, static config pushes or on-the-box scripting pushes.

Tomas has mentioned publicly that he has built templated config systems in the past, but I don’t believe that work has been turned into a shipping product yet.

I’m a happy paid user and have also met Tomas in person. I’m no expert, but he and his team write what appears (by performance) to be beautiful java.
