Unexplained BGP Session Flaps Despite Stable Links

Hello

I’m experiencing intermittent BGP session flaps between two ISPs despite having stable physical links and no obvious hardware issues. The session drops and re-establishes randomly, sometimes multiple times within an hour, without any clear trigger. :innocent:

There are no signs of interface errors, high CPU usage, or excessive route changes that could justify the instability. :upside_down_face:

I’ve checked for MTU mismatches, verified keepalive and hold timers, and ensured proper route filtering on both ends. Logs from both providers don’t indicate any clear cause, and neither side reports congestion or maintenance events. The issue persists even after testing with different hardware and configurations. :expressionless: Checked https://cloud.google.com/network-connectivity/docs/router/support/troubleshoot-bgp-sessions-selenium guide for reference .

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Could this be related to a subtle BGP timer setting, route dampening, or even something external like route leaks or unexpected DDoS filtering? Any insights or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you !! :slightly_smiling_face:
