You may get information by going to forecast.weather.gov and searching for a location. i.e.:

Then click the Tsunami Watch link:

Subway & bus lines are still down. Fire at the nuke plant has been put out, no radiation detected, but they still evacuated a couple thousand residents because the backup generator failed & the water pump is not pumping.

The Japanese gov't has sent troops into some areas, asked Washington to let the US service men in .jp (about 50K) help. I don't know if D.C. has agreed, but I can't imagine Obama would say no.

A few hundred bodies have been found so far.

It is very bad. But it could have been worse, the Japanese are very well prepared (building codes, emergency procedures, etc.).

Are we aware of how much the infrastructure has been damaged yet? Are aftershocks still going?

This live feed from Honolulu indicates that Hawaii damage is minor so far. The Tsunami is striking Hilo right now, and the Waikiki sea wall is under water.

Does anyone have any stats on route updates that might suggest the
possibility of fiber on the ocean floor being damaged?

The BGP route between NLR and JGN and JGN2+ has been down for more than an
hour and a half.

There are some submarine cable outages but I don't believe exact
locations of damage has been isolated. I suspect that this may take
some time.

I hear that there is now rising radiation levels outside the plant and US is flying in some dampers
in hopes to resolve the situation.

Hello all,

The situation is still quite bad in north eastern area of Honshu
island where Sendai resides.
In Tokyo, we still have frequent aftershocks, but it's getting back to
normal gradually.

As of connectivity from Japan to overseas, IIJ is seeing several
international circuits going down.
Several cables, not only trans pacific but also intra Asian, seems to
be affected by the earthquake offshore of Japan.
You may encounter some congestion not only to Japan but also to Asia.

Thanks for you support.

Sincerely,

Junichi Shimagami

from Tokyo

I don't have anything specific, but PCCW is reporting issues with
trans Pacific routes.

Here is what the IAEA has to say about the situation

Japanese officials have also reported that pressure is increasing inside the Unit 1 reactor’s containment, and the officials have decided to vent the containment to lower the pressure. The controlled release will be filtered to retain radiation within the containment.
