PacBell

Well, due to the lack of traffic, here's a question that
I've been pondering...are there any good reasons (besides
MCI's peering requirements) to go into the Pac Bell NAP
as well as MAE-West and the PAIX?

(This question probably won't have any impact on any
decisions; I'm just curious as to people's thoughts on
the matter, and it's nice to be able to post something
here that isn't about net abuse.)

YES, PACBell is MUCH more stable. PAIX is ok, but just not enough people
there to be worth while

I'd be interested in whatever stability or staffing issues you've had
with the PAIX, since you're the first to mention it. I can't fix what
doesn't seem broken.

Also, if you could mention what services you think we should offer in order
to be "worth while," I'd appreciate it.

Well when we fist started it was 24/7. I am sorry I said people I should
have said peers. You guys have a great place, and I am happy I have
hardware there. It will take time for more people to connect, but it is
looking good so far. Hay, you guys pulled it off. I have a nice NAP, and I
can't give space away.

Keep up the good work DEC.

               Secure. Reliable. Connected.

only problem is that we are *still* waiting for our PacBell connection at
PAIX and it's been nearly 4.5 months now

My only comment on this, is that there is virtually no limit to
Pacific Bell facilities in the PAIX, so I have no idea what their delay
is. They have infinite fiber capacity here. I've been told that ordering
Pac Bell NAP services is difficult only because customers can't seem to find
the right number to call!

If you go to

http://www.pacbell.com/products/business/fastrak/networking/nap/index.html

there's a little button at the bottom called "how to order".

Also, Warren Williams, who runs the NAP, I'm sure would be glad to put on
his sales cap and help out.

Of course, a BIG button at http://www.pacbell.com called "how to order"
would be preferable instead of 6 layers deep.
