I'm sure most've you have already seen this - but if not, be advised
that Network Solutions are now more aggressively marketing the contents
of WHOIS to spammers, etc.:
Yes, this has been noticed. Also, in another news flash, all your base are
now belong to us.

To be more accurate:
They are aggressively marketing *some* of the contents of WHOIS to
Postal Mail marketers. e-mail addresses are *not* provided. Spam is
UBE/UCE sent to e-mail addresses (says Paul Vixie, so it must be true
:-))
I saw this on another list and have been thinking about it some.
Aren't there laws which prohibit the US government from selling personal
data? And since NSI is under contract to the US government, wouldn't the
list be considered as a sub-contracted asset?
Any lawyers in the house?

To be more accurate:

War was beginning.
Captain: What happen ?
Operator: Somebody set up us the bomb
Operator: We get signal
Captain: What !
Operator: Main screen turn on
Captain: It's You !!
Cats: How are you gentlemen !!
Cats: All your base are belong to us
Cats: You are on the way to destruction
Captain: What you say !!
Cats: You have no chance to survive make your time
Cats: HA HA HA HA ....
Cats: Take off every 'zig'
Captain: You know what you doing
Captain: Move 'zig'
Captain: For great justice

Beware. It could happen to you. Check filters.
And make sure to have ARIN protect you from the bad aliens.
Yes, but same damn thing. I was never asked if I wanted to check off
"Do not solicit". My record was created when some of the people at NSI
gave a hoot.
I used to respect Network Solutions. "Used to" is the key phrase.
