Does anybody know if the program has been ported, or re-created there?
I have searched the market, but not found anything... at least nothing whose description includes the letters mtr.

I am not aware of a port of MTR, but I have used an app called TracePing
for much of the same functionality.

I use Fing app which gives traceroute (not MTR) and has some additional
features like scanning of broadcast for other machines as well as wake on
LAN trigger etc.

The only bad side is irritating banner which comes in middle at random
times.
I've just heard back from traceping's author, Dmitry Yurchenko.
He concurs with my bug report (DNS thread blocks ping reception), and
likes my 2 RFEs, and hopes to get some time to hammer on the app
again Real Soon Now.
I have passed Randy's (justifiable) concerns on the permissions along
to him, and will report what response I get.
