Well spamming is against the law in California last I read and
if you have an office here or branch you can counter sue and
have them criminally charged. Correct me if I am wrong.

Washington state has laws, and one person already got charged under them..
There is a federal proposal that isnt that unreasonable, and would make it
really easy to filter (if everyone complied, being an international
network ...)
you have to include instructions on unsubscribing (which has to work at
the top of the letter
you have to send it from a real email addr (that is yours
you have to put 'ADV:' as the first 4 chars of the subject line, if adult
in nature you have to add ADLT in there somewhere too
that is pretty much it, I dont know what other sleepers or whatever is in
that bill, but that part of it at least should be supported..
As for sueing people.. They can be somewhat hard to find if they move
around, and without proper laws that make the seller responsible (and how
can you do that without showing that they knew they were paying for
spamming, and exactly who the spammer is etc - a malicious person could
spam stuff from a company they dont like without their knowledge to get em
in hot water, but that will prolly be rare).. That may be one of the
reasons this didnt pass so quickly..
