I tried sending the below message from my work account, but it’s not a nanog subscriber, so the email was rejected. If anyone doubts the authenticity, feel free to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.

The better question is, how do you authenticate Ross' email, and how do you authenticate the... not the contents, but the authenticity & accuracy of the meaning of the email?
I suppose you don't have to - at some point they'll just turn it off and then we'll all know the email was legit :-).
As to Ross' question: IIRC there exists, or existed at one time, a private(?) mailing list for IRR operators. I would start with email@example.com, if that address still works. I can also reach out to the folks running the CANARIE IRR to see if they know, if necessary.
