Contact handles disappearing mysteriously from the whois database!

Everyone take a moment and check your NIC handles in the whois database.
We have noted two that have vanished within the past week.

I noticed this as well - one of our contact handles has vanished from
WHOIS. I spoke with a service rep at Network Solutions about this
yesterday. After speaking with her supervisor, she called me back
that afternoon and left a message stating that the information was
not lost from the internal NSI database, only from the WHOIS database.
She said this was due to a problem with an update they were running and
that it should be fixed within 24-48 hours from the time she called me.

This doesn't appear to be having any effect on anything besides WHOIS
(registering, modifying, deleting, etc.), but it's still annoying.

The second one SHOULD be HL2 I guess. Nice to see that they are so on top
of things that could cause huge headaches. So just how many domains do you
and Hannah now share Admin contact status for?

heh, maybe internic is pissed that someone paid 1.03 million for something
THEY only got paid $50 bux a year for?

but then again, maybe i'm just a cynic ;D

Nice to see they don't have to be "certified" like all
the other registrar's do... We expect these people to run
our database even better when they have 140 Million domains??

One out of four or five domains that we submit are NOT being
returned with tracking numbers AT ALL...... They get lost...

Love that NSI

Well my handle didn't disappear, but there's someone else who's been
issued the same handle as mine. take a look at internic-al2.

funny you should mention that...regged two domains yesterday...and had to
go bad and do it again on both of them...evidently the first time didn't go
through. even waited a couple HOURS for the automail...

yep, gotta love that NSI

Received this from our account manager at the weekend...

In accordance with Network Solutions agreement with the Department of
Commerce, we are planning on making some system enhancements that will
begin Friday evening (at approximately 10:00 p.m. EST, April 23, 1999) and
should be completed by early afternoon on Saturday (April 24, 1999).
There will be no impact to registrations that are submitted via email
templates. There may be a minor slow-down in automated replies to the
template submissions, however, all templates will be processed. Please do
not re-submit any templates for domain registrations or modifications. As
with the changes that were made between the evening of April 2 and the
morning of April 3, you should not experience any operational
interruptions.

The fun didn't stop there though. I sent off some 750 modifications
late saturday night, and received confirmations that they'd been
processed within an hour or so of each one being sent. Contact
handles were updated, and so on.
Come Monday morning, when I log in at work, I find another 1500 emails
for the new contact - the templates had each been processed two more
times, and because the contacts had changed the new contacts were
being asked for acks. Spamtastic.

Hmm, how does it go?

yep, gotta love that NSI

Ah yes, that was the one. They give out nice stress-balls though.
